At GanzAfrica, we take immense pride in the transformative journeys of our fellows, and Tinashe Chigwende‘s story is nothing short of inspiring. Hailing from Zimbabwe, Tinashe is our first Data Analytics Fellow, and her continuous growth through our fellowship program is a testament to the power of mentorship and capacity building.

Through our collaboration with the African Management Institute (AMI), Tinashe’s learning journey has taken on new dimensions. AMI is an institution that equips ambitious entrepreneurs and managers across Africa with the skills and practical tools to grow their businesses, teams, and careers. Their specialized online program, designed for business and management in the African context, equips our fellows with professional skills to drive change effectively. AMI’s vision aligns seamlessly with ours at GanzAfrica;empowering young professionals to thrive and make a lasting impact in their communities. By combining our efforts, we enable our fellows to reach their full potential and become catalysts for positive change in Africa’s agricultural and environmental sectors.

Following AMI’s courses like ‘Setting Goals for Success’ and ‘Personal Productivity – Getting Things Done,’ Tinashe has experienced a transformative shift in her organizational abilities. She explains, “These skills make us more productive, helping us perform tasks better and do more in less time.” The impact of these skills became evident when she collaborated with Patrick, our Land Administration and Management Fellow, on a complex task analyzing land transaction data . Tinashe recalls, “The task was not specific, which made it a bit complex, but we managed to come up with a solid analysis that addressed all the major issues related to land transactions.” This accomplishment highlights the significance of prioritization and delegation, making fruitful teamwork possible.

Tinashe reflects on her experience with AMI, stating,

“We are educated, we know how to do the job, but do we do it efficiently and effectively? That’s where AMI comes in. It’s not just about knowing how to do something; it’s about doing the same task with better results. I can proudly say that with AMI’s courses, I have been developing exceptional organizational abilities. My work has become more efficient, tasks are completed promptly, and I have mastered the art of prioritization.”

Tinashe continues, “Honestly, I didn’t know that having a personal mission was a thing until I was introduced to these courses. With AMI, I learned the importance of having a clear personal mission to guide my actions and decisions.”

A personal mission is a succinct statement that defines an individual’s purpose, values, and long-term aspirations, providing a guiding compass for their life and career choices.

“The first point I have been practicing almost every day and have learned to master is positivity. It’s my favorite! The power of positivity has transformed how I approach challenges and opportunities. I’ve been exposed to the effectiveness of brain dumps and to-do lists. These tools have been game-changers in keeping me organized and focused. I can declutter my mind and prioritize tasks more efficiently.”

Tinashe’s impactful learning journey with the African Management Institute (AMI) through GanzAfrica is a testament to the transformative power of continuous growth and professional skills development. To her fellow young professionals striving to take their careers to the next level, Tinashe extends a heartfelt invitation born from her own experience and growth: “I can’t emphasize enough how investing in professional skills has been a game-changer for me. It’s the key to unlocking your potential and driving impactful change. Let’s become better communicators, problem solvers, and leaders. Strive to give your best and make a lasting impact, starting with yourself. With determination and continuous learning, we can be the change agents our world needs!”
